Terms of Use
These terms apply to your use of the SeedCents app for iPhone and iPad (the “app”) and the website seedcents.com. By downloading or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Apple's terms also apply
You download SeedCents from the Apple App Store, and Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Apple EULA”) applies to your use of the app. These terms add to the Apple EULA. If they conflict on the license to use the app, the Apple EULA controls.
2. What SeedCents is
SeedCents is a personal budgeting and planning tool. You enter your own figures, and the app organizes them and shows summaries and estimates. It does not connect to financial institutions and does not move or hold money.
3. Not financial advice
SeedCents is for information and personal organization only. Payoff dates, interest figures, monthly amounts needed and similar results are estimates calculated from the numbers you enter and may differ from your lenders' statements. Nothing in the app constitutes professional and/or financial advice. That includes tax, legal and investment advice. Please check important figures against your actual statements and seek professional advice when you need it.
4. Your data and your backups
You own the information you enter. It is stored on your device and we cannot access or recover it. You are responsible for keeping backups, for example by exporting a backup from Settings. If you delete the app, lose or reset your device, or the data becomes unreadable, your data may be lost.
5. License and acceptable use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store usage rules. You agree not to copy, modify, resell or distribute the app, not to reverse engineer it except where the law allows, and not to use it for any unlawful purpose.
6. Ownership
The app, its design, and the SeedCents name and logo belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law. These terms do not give you any ownership of them.
7. Paid features
SeedCents includes optional paid features, called SeedCents Pro, sold as a one-time purchase through the App Store. Apple handles the purchase, billing and refunds under its own terms. The free version remains available, and the information you enter is yours whether or not you buy Pro. What Pro includes, and the limits of the free version, are described on the purchase screen in the app and may change over time.
8. Updates and changes
We may update, change or discontinue features of the app, and some updates may be needed for the app to keep working with newer versions of iOS.
9. No warranty
To the fullest extent the law allows, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose.
10. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, income or savings, or for decisions you make using the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the app in the previous 12 months or US$50. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you, and your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using SeedCents at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or end access if you breach these terms. Sections that by their nature should continue, including ownership, the disclaimers and the limit of liability, will continue after use ends.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the place where SeedCents is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer-protection laws where you live continue to apply.
