To help us help you, please include your iPhone or iPad model, your iOS version, and the app version (Settings, then About, at the bottom). Please do not send passwords or bank details.

Getting started

Where do I find Settings?

Open the Money tab and tap the gear icon at the top right. Settings has your name, currency, theme, dark mode, reminders, backups, a short guide, and the links to the privacy policy and terms.

What does “free to spend” mean?

It is your income for the month minus everything that leaves it: spending in your categories, plus payments to debts and money set aside for savings. It shows what is left after the things you have already committed.

Can I try the app with sample data?

Yes. On the welcome screen, switch on Explore with example data. To clear it later, go to Settings, then Data, then Delete all data.

Does the app connect to my bank?

No. SeedCents never connects to a bank or any other service. You enter your own figures, and they stay on your device.

SeedCents Pro

What is included in SeedCents Pro?

SeedCents is free to use, with up to 2 savings funds, 2 debts and 3 goals. SeedCents Pro is a one-time purchase, with no subscription, that adds unlimited funds, debts and goals, Year in review, bill reminders and custom accent colors. Anything you have already entered stays yours either way.

How do I restore my purchase?

Open Settings (the gear on the Money tab) and tap Restore Purchases. You need to be signed in to the same Apple Account you bought it with. It also works after reinstalling the app or setting up a new device.

How do I ask for a refund?

Purchases are handled by Apple, so refund requests go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds directly.

I already own Pro, but features are still locked.

Tap Restore Purchases in Settings and make sure you are signed in to the Apple Account that made the purchase. If it still does not unlock, email us the date of purchase and we will help.

Your data

How do I back up my data?

Go to Settings, then Data, then Export a backup. Choose where to save the file, such as Files, iCloud Drive or AirDrop. We never receive it. Export a fresh backup now and then, especially before changing phones.

How do I move to a new phone or restore a backup?

On the old device, export a backup. On the new one, install SeedCents and choose Import a backup on the welcome screen or in Settings, then pick the file. If you restore your new device from an iCloud or computer backup, the app's data may come with it.

How do I delete all my data?

Go to Settings, then Data, then Delete all data, and confirm. This cannot be undone, so export a backup first if you might want it later. Deleting the app also removes its data from the device.

Where is my data stored?

Only on your device, in the app's private storage. SeedCents has no accounts and no servers.

Using the app

Why did the app ask whether a change applies to “this one” or “future ones”?

When you edit or delete a repeating bill or paycheck, you choose how far the change reaches: Only this one, This and future ones, or All of them. “This and future ones” leaves earlier months exactly as they were.

I changed the currency and my amounts did not convert.

Changing the currency only changes the symbol and formatting. Amounts stay as entered and are not converted.

How do bill reminders work?

Turn on Bill reminders in Settings. SeedCents then sends a notification at 9:00 am on the day an unpaid bill is due. Reminders are scheduled on your device. If nothing arrives, check that notifications are allowed for SeedCents in the iOS Settings app.

How do I undo a delete?

After you remove an item, an Undo bar appears at the bottom of the screen for a few seconds. Tap it to bring the item back.

A payoff date or savings figure looks different from my statement.

Payoff dates and similar figures are estimates based on the balance, rate and payment you entered. Update the balance in the debt or fund to match your latest statement and the estimate will follow.
